From Dar Assarou we head towards Imlil village and pick up a footpath that leads to two huge and ancient walnut trees, said to be over 1,000 years old. We follow the trail that leads to Taddert village, contouring around the lower slopes of Adrar Tamalaroute (2,724m), an imposing mountain that stands over the northern Imlil Valley.

Eventually we reach the small Berber village of Taddert which sits on the eastern slopes of the valley above the Assif n'Ait Mizane river. At the end of the village we have our first glimpse of Aguersioual, a larger community sitting high above the river.

After another half hour of walking we reach Aguersioual and enjoy a glass of mint tea in a local house. Afterwards we'll walk back to Dar Assarou usually following a lower trail along the bottom of the valley or on the western side. If you'd like to walk back through the centre of Imlil, let your guide know. The walk can be done at any time of the day, just be mindful of mid-day summer heat.
